The Challenge: Email that took days to arrive
We took over the maintenance of the Chamo Dance and Fitness website as part of another project we are doing for the same client. During our first meeting, the client mentioned that, with her current service provider, email sent to her official business address took days to reach her. We have seen exactly the same problem with other clients who were with this service provider in the past. We moved them over to our preferred service provider.
The website itself was built in Elementor with a number of WordPress plugins, a setup we refuse to use.
The Solution: Moving to a provider we trust
As we would be maintaining this website along with the new one, we suggested using our service provider of choice, which made moving Chamo Dance there the logical choice. Most of our client sites are hosted with this provider simply because they happen to be very good. To be clear, we receive no kickback of any sort for recommending them.
The move took only three days, and even that was held up by email: the transfer documentation sent to the client's address was nowhere in sight. It took some negotiation with the previous ISP to get it to her.
Rebuilding the site without Elementor
We rebuilt the site in plain HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. It is now significantly smaller than before and loads extremely fast. The site still looks the same, but we fixed some typographical errors, softened some of the starker features such as the hard-edged rectangles and images, and added a decent footer.
Credit where it's due
The original design is excellent and is the work of Simply Designz, and we have given them credit in the site's footer. We will maintain the site from now on although there is not much to do. Some links go to external sites over which we have no control.
The Result: Instant email, a faster site and a better score
Email sent to the client's business address now lands in her inbox almost instantly, instead of taking days. The site's SEObility score has gone up from 70% on the original site to 91% after our rebuild. The client keeps the look her dancers and parents know, now on a lean, fast site hosted with a provider we know and trust.
