Why work with a South African web developer?

Your pound or dollar goes further
Our fees are set in South African Rand. Because of the exchange rate, paying in British pounds, US dollars, Australian dollars or New Zealand dollars means you get a professionally built website for considerably less than you would typically pay at home. The quality stays the same: clean, hand-coded HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, fast loading, mobile friendly and properly set up for search engines.
Paying us is straightforward. We can invoice you in either South African Rand (ZAR) or your own currency, whichever you prefer, and you can settle your account directly into our South African business bank account.
International experience
Working with clients abroad is not new to us:
- Norway / Lao PDR: Some years ago we were responsible for the website of a groundwater research project run by Norconsult, a Norwegian engineering and geoscience firm. The research took place in the Mekong River Basin in Laos, South-East Asia, and the website presented the geophysical and geological data gathered in the field. The project has since been completed and wound up, so the website is no longer online. The exposure to an international client, a technical subject and stakeholders across three continents was invaluable.
- Uganda: More recently, we worked remotely with Competently on skills assessment for the Ugandan Government.

Working across time zones
South Africa runs on South African Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2) all year round, with no daylight saving. That puts us in a comfortable position:
- United Kingdom and Europe: Our working days overlap almost completely. We are only one or two hours ahead of the UK and at most one hour ahead of most of Europe, so a call can be scheduled any time during your normal business day.
- United States: Our afternoon is your morning on the East Coast. For the West Coast we schedule early-morning or evening calls on our side, whatever suits you.
- Australia: Our morning is your afternoon. Calls are easily arranged at the start of our day.
- New Zealand: You are furthest ahead of us, so our early morning is your late afternoon. We schedule calls at the very start of our day to catch the end of yours.

The ranges reflect daylight saving in your country. The time difference also works in your favour: for clients in the US, Australia and New Zealand, work often moves forward while you are asleep, and you wake up to progress and an update in your inbox.
