Capturing the essence of a school, not selling a product
Prospectus Novus School is a parallel medium school in Mayville, Pretoria, dedicated to learners with specific learning disabilities and related challenges from across the Pretoria Metropolitan area. The school works through an inter-disciplinary team approach across its Foundation, Intermediate, and Senior phases, as well as a dedicated ASD unit. There was no product to sell, and no shop to build – the brief was simply to create an informative website that reflects who the school is and what they do for their learners.
A bilingual site built around the school's values
The site presents the school's mission and its ten core values – kindness, care, honesty, responsibility, respect, consideration, fairness, friendliness, pride, and self-control – in both English and Afrikaans, reflecting the school's parallel medium approach.
Clear navigation to what parents need to find
Beyond the school's phases and ASD unit, the site sets out the support services families rely on, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and social work, alongside the school's cultural and sports extramural programmes, and the practical information needed for accommodations, finances, referrals, and contact.
A straightforward build for a straightforward need
Since the school doesn't need an extensive website or an online shop, the focus throughout was on a clean, easy-to-navigate site that puts the school's warmth and inclusivity front and centre, without unnecessary complexity.
